Are You Operating From Fear or Love

One of the biggest lessons I've learned and incorporated since my spiritual transformation(in June of 2014) is the simple question, are you operating from fear or love. Simple question. Huge ramifications. One soothes the ego. One feeds our soul.

Fear is masked in so many ways. We literally fool ourselves into believing it's only real if we feel like our life is in danger. Or, the feeling we get when thinking about taking a glass elevator to the 120th floor (if we're scared of heights). Or,...

Why I Went Vegan

Surprising things happen when you travel deep into your spiritual journey after a life devoted to a traditional religion. Things I did not expect or anticipate. Things that are my new normal and I've found that I'm not alone in these transitions. This latest really caught me by surprise.

I must admit that I'm a bit apprehensive about using the "V" label. I don't like labels but it's the closest description I can use. Not for a second did I foresee this change when I started my awakening over...

Stress, Dehydration and Shingles. My Story.

I've always known the dangers of stress. In fact, it's the reason that I've calmed down my training a bit and added time for meditation and prayer and/or yoga. I've been working on breathing exercises and controlling my thoughts when they start to create barriers and obstacles to peace and contentment. I'm a work in progress but I feel pretty good about my focus and efforts.

Enter my summer trip to Peru and the wakening of my chicken pox virus and the constant reminder of my body's overload....

Angels, Synchronicity & A Fitness Transformation

Original post date: Summer of 2014. After nearly 40 years of always having a job (or several), I took six weeks off this summer other than a little bit of fitness work. I was coming off of a major career disappointment and I was exhausted from the emotional up's and down's. I was actually exhausted overall from non-stop to-do's and goals for my entire life. Little did I know that my days and hours would soon be consumed with angels, synchronicity and a different kind of fitness...

My Battle with Overeating & Bulimia

Hello my friends and thank you for taking time to read this entry about my battle with overeating and bulimia. I originally posted it on Sept. 10th, 2012 as a follow up to mybeing-locked-in-your-own-prison/post. I am updating this partly because of a guest on my former syndicated show, Life in the Groove, Dotsie Bausch. She's a 2012 Olympic Silver Medalist in cycling and a successful coach but it took an almost life-ending battle with anorexia to get her there. Many of us with eating...

You Cannot Exercise Away a Bad Diet

My guess is that many of you have and are still attempting something that just won't work because as hard as you try, you cannot exercise away a bad diet. And, oh how I've tried, every which way I could think of.

I've had personal training clients show up for a session after doing cardio for 60-minutes. I've watched them take a group fitness class after our tough, 50-minute training. Because they love to workout so much? Because they have so much extra time in the day? Once in a while,...

Being Locked in Your Own Prison

I've been taking the last few months off from a lot of my normal routine to truly re-think and study my purpose and calling in this lifetime. As I look back at some of my previous posts, I realize that I've grown in some areas, not-so-much in others and I've sort of coasted in a few spots. This short entry about being locked in your own prison caught my attention from a summer trip that we took two years ago. Thought I would re-post as I toil away at my newest stuff. Betting that it will...

Exercise Smarter to Burn Fat

How you move, how you fuel and how you rest should all support a Mad Dog Metabolism and you can ignite that fire if you exercise smarter to burn fat 24/7. It's the ultimate situation for any of us trying to lose weight or maintain our ideal shape. It's critical as we age to help prevent the natural decrease in caloric allowances. You've heard of the 80/20 rule and working smarter not harder. It's the same for your health and fitness goals (assuming you already work hard enough).Burning extra...

Motivations and Reminders

These motivations and reminders are from my Get Fit! Stay Healthy! June podcast #58. Check out the segment for the audio version. Hope a few can lift your spirits and get you focused.
  1. Being broke is not the same as being broken, losing money is not the same as being lost and finding your balance is not something you can do on a balance sheet.
  2. Don’t confuse having less with being less, having more with being more or what you have with who you are.
  3. When you’re in a hurry, go slowly. The...

Diet and Exercise Jumpstart for June

From my Get Fit Stay Healthy podcast! Get ready for the summer, break a plateau or change up your nutrition, diet and workouts with this easy to follow plan. Here is the outline from the segment, Diet and Exercise Jumpstart for June.

STEP #1: Preparation/Food. Pick 10 days that will give you the best opportunity to follow through, keeping in mind that there will probably never be 10 perfect days in a row. If you need accountability tell as many people as you can (that you trust) what you are...
